Bullitt Security was founded in 2007 by R.J. Scheu and Randy Gehrke. They wanted to provide a service they thought was lacking in the Wood River Valley area. While identifying the need to provide security in an area that have seasonal highs and lows of tourists and vacationers, we couldn't help but notice that many businesses and homeowners required a higher level of security and peace of mind while they were out of town, closed for the day or experiencing a high volume of traffic with guests or customers.

Our customers also expressed an increased interest for more services. So, naturally, Randy and RJ decided to broaden their scope and include security services that would cover the entire valley.

They also routinely interact with federal authorities when VIPs visit the town, such as members of Congress and the Dalai Lama. Their executive service not only covers politicians, but also celebrities of many genres.

Additionally, Bullitt Security is a process server. Their process service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and they're very determined to successfully complete their mission.

Below you can read a short biography of the two founders, R.J. and Randy.

R.J. Scheu

R.J. comes from Chicago, Illinois, where his family has strong ties with law enforcement in Illinois and Indiana.

R.J. Scheu

In 1975, he moved to Billings, Montana where he attended Rocky Mountain College and graduated in 1980. After running two businesses there, he moved back to Chicago to help a family business.

By 1987, R.J. found himself in Idaho, where he later joined the Blaine County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy with the search and rescue team. His experience as a certified high angle mountain rescue climber, rescue scuba diver, EMT and tracker were invaluable to the team. For over 33 years, he not only participated in but also supervised numerous Search and Rescue responses resulting in many saved lives and grateful families.

In 2004, R.J. joined Northern Intermountain Security, where he ran all day-to-day operations, which included scheduling, creating contracts and reports, recruiting, interviews and hiring of staff. Outside the office, R.J. performed surveillance, security rounds for local businesses, process serving, alarm call responses, and provided local security for Hollywood celebrities at their residence.

He oversaw the security detail for numerous functions with dignitaries, senators and congressmen in attendance. This also includes the Dalai Lama’s visit to the Wood River Valley. This type of activity also called for a cooperative involvement with the Diplomatic Security Services (DSS) and the Secret Service while in the valley.

On a grander scale, R.J. ran security for numerous concerts with up to 5000 people in attendance. Some of the concert performers where Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Dr. John, Steve Miller, Arlo Guthrie, Dwight Yokam, Phish, and Carol King.

Identifying a need to expand security services, in 2007, R.J. co-founded Bullitt Security which not only provides the services he was used to, but additionally provides security service for residential communities, health clubs, private homes, ranches, farms, commercial construction, sporting events and conventions.

His knowledge with business operations and in-the-field experience provides Bullitt Security with a strong operations foundation.

In 2007, Randy co-founded Bullitt Security, which provides security services for persons and numerous entities including concerts, conventions, ranches, farms, residential communities, businesses and private homes. We also execute the service of process, which has long been a critical element in our judicial system.

Needless to say, his experience is an excellent asset to the Bullitt Security organization.

After graduating from the Washington State Criminal Justice Academy in 1980 with a distinction, he was a Deputy Sheriff at Precinct 3, where he performed general patrol duties and quickly rose in the department.

In 1982, Randy was a plainclothes undercover detective specializing in unique and complex investigations. Within a year, he became a Homicide Detective to the Green River Task Force, which was a nationwide serial murder investigation team.

By 1984, Randy was promoted to the Special Operations Section as a K-9 handler and counter-sniper to the Tac 30 team. (SWAT)

His security duties included dignitary protection for numerous dignitaries including, but not limited to, President Reagan, President Clinton, President Bush (Sr.) the 1990 Goodwill Games and the APEC World Oil Conference.

For over 19 years, Randy was involved with security for the Seattle Seahawks and the Seattle Mariners.

From May 1996 through July 1999, Randy was a Master Police Officer in charge of training recruits and was acting shift-supervisor when needed. He then worked as a Civil Unit Detective till November 2001.
